This guide describes how to add the Structure Filter Extension (also referred to sometimes as 'Popup Search Extension' or 'Substructure Search') to a dashboard that already has the Data Table Extension. The Structure Filter Extension can be used however with native Tableau worksheets as well.
Open a workbook with a Data Table extension (follow ‘Add the Data Table Extension to a dashboard’). Go into edit mode.
Go to the 'Data Table Feed' worksheet.
Create a parameter. On the Side Bar, next to ‘Dimensions’ click on the triangle. Select ‘Create parameter’ from the drop-down list. Name it ‘searchOptions’ (without the apostrophes). Select ‘String’ from the ‘Data type’ drop-down list. Click on OK.
Go to the dashboard that has the Data Table Extension.
Go to ‘Objects’, select ‘Extensions’. Add the Structure Filter extension to the dashboard
Go to config, select the 'Select source worksheet'
Select Structure ID column (used for structure search): as structure_id
Enter the API key (if you copy-paste it, please make sure not to use ctrl+v in Windows, but to right-click on the field, and select paste) and the table name (contact email@example.com), save the configuration
Save the workbook and reload the page.
Select the Data Table extension, open its configuration. Select 'Structure Id' under ‘‘Select Structure ID column (used for structure search)’ and also target sheet if any, tick the check box for 'Listen to all parameters':
